The McCoy Myers Report System is a reports archiving system that allows computer-generated reports to be stored and retrieved electronically. Using a combination of UNIX and compact disc read only memory (CD-ROM) technology, reports are available as soon as they are generated and, once a CD is burned, they are permanently archived.
In Meridian, the bank selects which reports are printed only, printed-and-archived, or archived only. Reports marked to print only are sent to the printer as always. Reports marked to print and archive are sent to the printer and are also printed to disc. Reports marked archive only are printed to disc only.
Because reports are printed to disc, paper cost and printer time is substantially reduced and the cost of printing, storing, and eventually shredding original printed reports is eliminated.
Because the information is stored electronically, microfiche and microfilm are no longer needed, reducing employee, developing, transportation, and storage costs.
Reports can be viewed, searched, and printed at individual workstations. Thus, any report on the UNIX system is available to any terminal or PC connected to the UNIX server. The Reports Server can view data on its hard disk or any CD-ROM in its reader. The data available on the Reports Server can also be used by any PC connected to it by an NT network. Standalone PCs may have the Report System View Only software loaded, and be able to read any CD-ROM in the server's reader. (These PCs must be Windows 95 or higher.)
No longer will your employees have to wait until downloads are performed from last night's updates. The reports are automatically and immediately sent to the UNIX side of the Report System, which gives all employees access to the data and eliminates the need to print many of the reports.
The two systems run simultaneously. If one system goes down, you will always be able to retrieve data from the other system. The UNIX system resides on the McM host server and the NT system resides on the NT workstation that is sold by McM. So in the unlikely event that one of the systems goes down you will not have to worry about losing data or even any downtime.
A CD-ROM is a more universal media, is readable from any Windows 95 (or above) PC, and costs less than $5.00 per disk as opposed to $125 per optical disk. If your bank has branches, burn an additional CD-ROM for each branch! This eliminates calling from the branch to the main office to change optical disks for research on historical data.
The Reports NT Server can serve a dual purpose in your bank. It can perform all the tasks of the Report System and can also be used to store scanned images that are accessible through Meridian. This dual functionality eliminates the need for your bank to purchase a separate NT Server.
As McM enhancements and technologies such as McM 2000 develop and grow, you are assured that the two critical areas of data processing--data generation and data archiving--will be supported, maintained and interfaced.
The McCoy Myers Report System becomes an even more useful tool with our latest software, Meridian. Both products utilize the functionality of the Windows environment, which creates a seamless transition.
Through Meridian, the Report System has access to both the UNIX and Windows reports created by the two systems. Other features, such as drag and drop, highlight, and zoom are now at your disposal. Unlike other archive systems, the Report System, when used through Meridian, allows you to define your print ranges. No longer will you need to print a multiple page report, when all you needed was a specific section.
These advantages, plus many more, are possible because of the integration between the two products. In addition, the Report System PC will also be used as the support PC for Meridian.
